Turn Your Dodge Into A Mobile Hotspot

Dodge lovers everywhere are going to enjoy this. Sprint has teamed up with Dodge to make uConnect systems like the ones found in the 2013 Dodge Ram pair with cellular devices to create a mobile hotspot.

What exactly does that mean? Well, if you love using your laptop while on the road (Say at a rest stop, etc...), you'll now have Wi-Fi access!

The pickup truck isn’t what you’d call a high-tech platform. But for building contractors and other tradesmen, trucks serve as a rolling office, which is why Sprint and Chrysler chose the newly redesigned 2013 Ram 1500 – along with an even more unlikely vehicle, the all-new SRT Viper – to debut a new connectivity system called Uconnect Access. It will include the usual connected-car features: internet access, in-dash apps, a smartphone app for remotely controlling aspects of the vehicle, telematics services such as emergency assistance, and both on-board and off-board cloud-based voice recognition.

But Chrysler is taking a different tack on in-car Wi-Fi access, adding a proprietary twist on app access in what is already a fractured, siloed approach among automakers. And Uconnect Access has a couple of quirks when it comes to off-board voice rec and emergency assistance.
